If Zombies Could Talk…oh wait, they can!

You’re probably used to zombies being the bad guys. They’re generally mindless, want to eat the flesh of the living, and overall prove to be a real nuisance for humans. But what if things were different? What if zombies and humans lived together, could communicate, and were making the best of things? Maybe not always peacefully, but what if?

I’m the editor in chief of Z Magazine, the first magazine “written by zombies for zombies”. It is a super artistic collection of art and writing in the form of a full color print magazine. People from around the world have contributed to the creation of 3 fabulous 56 page editions. Stories range from horrifying personal accounts of zombie mistreatment and undead equality, to favorite brain recipes and entertaining mixed living-dead parties. Fake ads for zombie products like “Zymbalta” and “Decay” perfumes are peppered throughout the magazine, making it an amusing visual treat and feel like an honest-to-goodness magazine.

Draft cover for the 4th edition

Z Mag is in progress on the 4th edition and I hope to make this one the best yet, but I need your help! We’re a little over the half way mark for content but still need more by April 5th. What do we need?

-Humorous articles, such as zombie recipes, entertaining tips, love advice.

-More serious articles exploring potential problems like zombie discrimination or other challenges the undead face.

-1 or 2 artists (who has work with zombies in it somehow) to feature who are willing to take on a “zombie” persona for a short interview. Their work will be displayed, unmodified, in the magazine and a real artist bio will be included int he contributor’s section.

-Any project (short film, comic book, artist endeavor) that focuses on the zombie perspective. We will work together to form a creative way to integrate the project into the magazine.

Contributing to the magazine is easy. Just come up with something you think would fit and submit it through email. Contributors receive a print copy of the magazine (if their articles are over 600 words or if they are an artist) as well as a discount on future purchases of the magazine. Articles under 600 words receive free shipping on 1 print copy as well as an electronic PDF of the magazine.

Visit the website to learn more about the magazine and review some of the details on how to submit, etc.

Do you have a deadline (ha!) in mind? I’d like to write something and a target date would force me to get to it!
